Day 186: Camping Out

Day 186 of #365 Creative #Ideas to do with your kids: Can you remember camping as a kid? Fresh air, fun games and living the wild life makes for happy, healthy children, and rarely does a child pass up the chance of camping in the garden. A simple A-frame tent is easy to put up and pack away, and can be used for parties as well as play. You will be surprised how much use you can get from a basic garden tent. At the very least, it can provide hours of outdoor fun and fantasy, doubling as a playhouse equipped with dolls and their clothes, beds and toys or teddy bears having a picnic. Or use as a shady haven at parties, and throw in some cushions. Most children will want to try a ‘sleep out’ in their tent. For this, you could add some flags, a groundsheet, cushions and a mattress, blankets, lanterns and a picnic basket full of goodies for a midnight feast. Add to the theme by having a braai that night and sit around the fire looking at the stars. Alternatively make an indoor tent for a sleep out.
